Olmert is ignoring the crowds
The organizations calling on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz to resign in the wake of the Winograd Committee's report on their failures in the Second Lebanon War are determined to continue their efforts following Thursday's mass rally in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square.
The rally has pulled in new activists, and the organizations have scheduled planning meetings for this week. Members of a coalition of protest organization say their activities are pressuring former prime minister Ehud Barak to take a stance on the report's findings.
Organizers of the rally expressed anger on Saturday over allegations by associates of Olmert that some of their number, including Maj.-Gen. (res.) Uzi Dayan of Tafnit, are politically motivated.

"They couldn't lash out at the bereaved parents or the reservists who joined the protest, so they tried to target Dayan's political views instead," the organizers said.
"Olmert is ignoring the crowds," Dayan told Haaretz. "Our test will be our ability to make him go home. The rally was only the starting point for change."
Other protest leaders said their focus will shift to the Labor Party, for remaining in the government coalition with Olmert. They said they will also fight to get the Winograd Committee to publish the transcripts of witness testimony.
Uzi Dayan's movement ran in the recent Knesset elections and failed to gain the required amount of votes to secure it a seat.
