Opposition Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu has called for early elections. Speaking Thursday at a Likud caucus meeting ahead of the special session of the Knesset plenum to discuss the Winograd Committee interim report, Netanyahu noted that the Second Lebanon War was the first war that Israel failed to win in a decisive manner. Meanwhile, a petition has been filed with the High Court calling on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to explain why he does not dismiss Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in light of her remarks at a news conference Wednesday, calling for his resignation. The petitioner, Attorney Yossi Musli, also called on Livni to explain why she herself is not resigning in light of her views.
